Fried Mozzarella Ingredients

Method

Fried Mozzarella Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese

Cut the mozzarella cheese into sticks, about 1/2 inch thick and 3 inches long. Place them on a plate and freeze for about 30 minutes to firm them up.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate shallow bowls, place the all-purpose flour in the first bowl, whisk the eggs in the second bowl, and mix the breadcrumbs with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder in the third bowl.

  3. 3

    Bread the Mozzarella

Take the frozen mozzarella sticks out of the freezer. Dip each stick into the flour, coating it evenly, then dip it into the whisked eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the mozzarella sticks with the seasoned breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure an even coating.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil's readiness by dropping a breadcrumb into it; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.

  5. 5

    Fry the Mozzarella

Carefully add the breaded mozzarella sticks into the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Once fried, use a slotted spoon to remove the mozzarella sticks from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
