Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until thoroughly combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, mix together the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk until well blended.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Rosewater Icing Preparation

  1. 7

    Mix Icing Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the powdered sugar, rosewater, milk, and softened butter. Mix until smooth and creamy.

  2. 8

    Add Color (Optional)

If desired, add a drop of pink food coloring and mix until well incorporated.

Assembly and Garnish

  1. 9

    Ice the Cake

Once the cake is completely cooled, spread the rosewater icing evenly over the top of the cake.

  2. 10

    Garnish

Sprinkle the edible rose petals over the iced cake for decoration.
