Method

Preparing Meatballs

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into small meatballs, about 2.5 cm in diameter.

  3. 3

    Brown Meatballs

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil. Add the meatballs in batches and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Making Tomato Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Onion and Garlic

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, salt, black pepper, and dried oregano. Bring to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Simmer Meatballs

Return the browned meatballs to the skillet. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Dish

Serve the meatballs topped with the tomato sauce. Add dollops of stracciatella cheese on top and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
