Method
Salad Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Romaine Lettuce
Wash the romaine lettuce under cold water to remove any dirt. Pat dry with a clean towel or use a salad spinner. Chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place it in a large salad bowl.
Crouton Preparation
- 2
Make the Croutons
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the bread slices into cubes. In a bowl, combine the bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat evenly. Spread the croutons on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool.
Dressing Preparation
- 3
Prepare the Caesar Dressing
In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, anchovy paste, minced garlic, and Parmesan cheese. Whisk until smooth and well combined. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Adjust the flavors as desired.
Assembly
- 4
Assemble the Salad
In the bowl with the prepared romaine, add the croutons and drizzle the housemade Caesar dressing over the top. Toss gently to combine, ensuring all ingredients are well coated with dressing. Finally, sprinkle grated Grana Padano cheese over the salad before serving.
