Shrimp Creole
Method
Preparation
- 1
Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion, green bell pepper, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- 2
Add Garlic and Spices
Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Stir in the cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Incorporate Tomatoes and Broth
Add the canned diced tomatoes (with juice) and chicken broth to the skillet. Stir to combine.
- 4
Simmer the Sauce
Add bay leaves, bring the mixture to a simmer, and let it cook for 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- 5
Cook the Shrimp
Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook until they are pink and opaque, about 5 minutes.
- 6
Final Adjustments
Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed. Remove bay leaves before serving.
