Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatloaf Patty

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Shape the mixture into two equal-sized patties.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until cooked through.

  4. 4

    Caramelize the Onions

In the same skillet, add butter and sliced onion. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the onions are caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Sandwich

On one slice of Texas toast, place a patty, top with two slices of Swiss cheese, and some caramelized onions. Spread ketchup and mustard on another slice of Texas toast and place it on top.

  6. 6

    Toast the Sandwich

Heat the skillet again and toast the sandwich on both sides until golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  7. 7

    Optional Farm Egg

If adding a farm egg, fry it in the skillet to your desired doneness and place it on top of the sandwich before serving.
