Method
Preparing the Smoked Burrata
- 1
Prepare the Smoking Setup
Soak the wood chips in water for at least 30 minutes. This will help create smoke without burning too quickly.
- 2
Smoke the Burrata
Preheat your smoker or grill to a low temperature (around 200°F/93°C). Place the soaked wood chips in the smoker box or directly on the coals. Place the burrata on the grill and smoke for about 30 minutes, or until it takes on a smoky flavor.
- 3
Brûlée the Burrata
Once smoked, remove the burrata from the grill. Sprinkle the granulated sugar evenly on top of the burrata. Using a kitchen torch, carefully caramelize the sugar until it forms a golden crust. Set aside to cool slightly.
Making the Strawberry Compote
- 4
Cook the Strawberries
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the quartered strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries soften and release their juices.
- 5
Cool the Compote
Remove the saucepan from heat and let the strawberry compote cool to room temperature, allowing the flavors to meld.
Assembling the Dish
- 6
Plate the Dish
On a serving plate, place the smoked brûléed burrata in the center. Spoon the strawberry compote generously over the top.
- 7
Garnish
Sprinkle the chopped roasted pistachios and fresh mint leaves over the burrata and compote for added flavor and visual appeal.
