Salad Base

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Lettuce

Remove the outer leaves of the baby iceberg lettuce and cut the head into quarters. Rinse each wedge under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until they are crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess grease.

  3. 3

    Halve the Tomatoes

While the bacon is cooking, rinse the grape tomatoes and slice them in half.

  4. 4

    Slice the Hearts of Palm

Drain the hearts of palm and slice them into rounds.

Assemble the Salad

  1. 5

    Layer the Wedge

On a large plate, place the quartered baby iceberg wedge. Arrange the halved grape tomatoes around the wedge.

  2. 6

    Add Toppings

Crumble the crispy bacon over the salad. Add the smoked blue cheese, sliced hearts of palm, and candied walnuts on top.

  3. 7

    Serve

Drizzle with your favorite dressing if desired, then serve immediately as a refreshing side dish or light meal.
