Place the bone-in ham in a large roasting pan, flat side down.

Using a sharp knife, score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern, making cuts about 1 inch apart.
Make the Glaze

In a medium saucepan, combine Dijon mustard, pure maple syrup, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Mix well.

Heat the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the glaze is smooth, stirring frequently. Remove from heat.

If using cloves, stud the ham with the whole cloves at this point.

Brush the glaze generously over the scored surface of the ham, ensuring it gets into the cuts.

Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Roast for about 1.5 to 2 hours.
