Method
Waffle Preparation
- 1
Make the Waffle Batter
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined. In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 2
Preheat the Waffle Iron
Preheat your Belgian waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually until the green indicator light comes on.
- 3
Cook the Waffles
Once the waffle iron is ready, lightly grease it with cooking spray or brush with melted butter. Pour the appropriate amount of batter into the waffle iron (usually about 1 cup, depending on the size of your iron). Close the lid and cook for 5-7 minutes or until the waffles are golden brown and crisp.
Toppings Preparation
- 4
Prepare the Vanilla Bean Whipped Cream
In a mixing bowl, pour the heavy cream and scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean into the bowl. Whip with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until soft peaks form. Set aside.
- 5
Prepare the Fresh Fruit
Wash the strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries thoroughly. Slice the strawberries and bananas. Arrange all the fruit in serving bowls.
- 6
Serve the Waffles
Once the waffles are done, remove them from the waffle iron and place them on plates. Top each waffle with a generous dollop of vanilla bean whipped cream, a medley of fresh berries, sliced bananas, a dusting of powdered sugar, and drizzle with warm maple syrup.
