Onion Rings
Boom Sauce
Method
Onion Rings
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Slowly whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and well combined. Let the batter rest for about 15 minutes.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). You can use a thermometer to check the temperature.
- 4
Fry the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess batter to drip off. Carefully place the battered rings into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Boom Sauce
- 5
Combine Ingredients
In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, garlic powder, and lemon juice until well combined.
- 6
Season
Add salt to taste and adjust seasoning according to preference. Mix again to ensure even distribution.
