Prepare the Beef Patty

Mix Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Form Patties
Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
Cook the Bacon

Heat Skillet
In the same skillet used for the bacon, increase the heat to medium-high. If desired, add a little bacon grease for flavor.

Cook Patties
Add the beef patties to the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side without moving them for a good sear.

Flip Patties
Flip the patties and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Place a slice of American cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
