Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, mix all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Mix the ingredients until combined, then knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) for at least 30 minutes before baking the pizza.

  2. 6

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.

  3. 7

    Add Toppings

Spread the crushed tomatoes evenly over the rolled-out dough. Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute them over the tomatoes. Sprinkle salt over the top and drizzle with olive oil.

  4. 8

    Bake the Pizza

Place the pizza on a baking sheet or pizza stone and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

  5. 9

    Finish with Basil

Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately scatter fresh basil leaves over the top. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
