Preparation and Cooking
- 1
- 2
Add the rice to the pan and stir for another 2-3 minutes until the rice is slightly toasted.
- 3
Stir in the parsley, dill, salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Mix well and remove from heat.
- 4
Prepare the Grape Leaves
If using jarred grape leaves, rinse them under cold water to remove excess brine and pat dry. If using fresh leaves, blanch them in boiling water for about 2 minutes.
- 5
Stuff the Grape Leaves
Lay a grape leaf vein side up on a flat surface. Place about 1 tablespoon of the rice mixture at the base of the leaf. Fold the sides over the filling and roll from the base to the tip, creating a tight roll.
- 6
Repeat with the remaining leaves and filling.
- 7
Cook the Stuffed Grape Leaves
Place the stuffed grape leaves seam side down in a large pot. Pour the vegetable broth over them and add more water if necessary to cover the rolls.
- 8
Bring to a gentle simmer, cover, and cook for 30-40 minutes until the rice is tender.
- 9
Serve
Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
