Meringue

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Beat Egg Whites

In a clean, dry bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer on medium speed until foamy.

  3. 3

    Add Cream of Tartar

Add the cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Sugar

Gradually add the granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat until the mixture is glossy and stiff peaks form.

  5. 5

    Add Vanilla

Gently fold in the vanilla extract until well combined.

  6. 6

    Pipe or Spoon Meringue

Using a piping bag or spoon, dollop or pipe the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet in desired shapes.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meringues are dry and easily lift off the parchment paper.

  8. 8

    Cool

Turn off the oven and leave the meringues inside to cool completely.
