Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Italian Sausage

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat and set aside.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a flatbread shape, about 1/4 inch thick. Brush both sides with olive oil and season with salt and black pepper.

  4. 4

    Grill the Flatbread

Place the flatbread on the grill. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until grill marks appear and the bread is cooked through.

  5. 5

    Add Toppings

Once the flatbread is grilled, remove it from the grill. Spread a layer of red sauce on top, followed by the cooked Italian sausage, Fontina cheese, and Parmesan cheese.

  6. 6

    Melt the Cheese

Return the flatbread to the grill and close the lid. Allow the cheese to melt for about 3-5 minutes.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove from the grill and garnish with fresh basil if desired. Cut into slices and serve hot.
