Brewing Directions
- 1
Mashing the Grains
In a large pot, heat 20 liters of water to 150°F (65°C). Add the pale malt and caramel malt, stirring gently to avoid clumping. Maintain this temperature for 60 minutes.
- 2
Sparging the Grains
After mashing, rinse the grains with hot water at 170°F (77°C) to extract the sugars. Collect the wort in a separate pot, which should yield about 15 liters of liquid.
- 3
Boiling the Wort
Bring the collected wort to a boil. Once boiling, add the Pink Boots blend hops and boil for 60 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.
- 4
Cooling the Wort
After the boil, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches around 70°F (21°C).
- 5
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel and add the yeast. Seal the vessel with an airlock and let it ferment at room temperature for 1-2 weeks, or until fermentation is complete.
- 6
Bottling
Once fermentation is complete, dissolve 0.5 cups of priming sugar in a small amount of water and add it to the beer before bottling. Bottle the beer and cap it. Allow it to carbonate for 1-2 weeks.
- 7
Chilling and Serving
After carbonation, chill the bottles in the refrigerator. Serve cold and enjoy your Pink Boots Brut IPA!
