Directions

  1. 1

    Mashing the Grains

In a large brew kettle, heat 15 cups of water to 165°F (74°C). Add the Pilsner malt and stir well.

  2. 2

    Sparging

After mashing, sparge the grains with hot water to extract the sugars.

  3. 3

    Boiling the Wort

Bring the collected wort to a vigorous boil.

  4. 4

    Cooling the Wort

After the boil, cool the wort quickly to yeast pitching temperature (around 50°F to 55°F or 10°C to 13°C).

  5. 5

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermenter and pitch the yeast.

  6. 6

    Bottling

Once fermentation is complete, prepare to bottle the beer.

  7. 7

    Carbonation

Cap the bottles and allow them to carbonate at room temperature for about 2 weeks.

  8. 8

    Enjoy

After carbonation, chill the bottles and enjoy your homemade Czech Pilsner.
