Dough Preparation
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt. Mix well until the salt is evenly distributed.
- 2
Add Water
Gradually add water to the flour mixture, mixing with your hands or a spoon until a rough dough begins to form.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- 4
Rest the Dough
Cover the kneaded dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
- 5
Divide the Dough
After resting, divide the dough into equal portions (about 8 small balls).
Cooking the Roti

Preheat the Tandoor or Skillet
If using a tandoor, preheat it according to the manufacturer's instructions. If using a skillet, heat it over medium-high heat.

Flip and Cook
Cook for about 1-2 minutes or until bubbles start to form on the surface. Flip the roti and cook for another 1-2 minutes until it is well-cooked and has golden brown spots.
- 10
Remove and Serve
Once cooked, remove the roti from the tandoor or skillet and keep it warm in a covered container. Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.
