Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Clean and slice the mushrooms. Chop the onion, garlic, and ginger finely. Dice the tomatoes and chop cilantro.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Sauté the Onions

In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 3

    Add Garlic and Ginger

Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan, stirring for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 4

    Cook the Mushrooms

Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until they are softened and their moisture has evaporated.

  4. 5

    Add Spices

Stir in the cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to toast the spices.

  5. 6

    Incorporate Tomatoes

Add the diced tomatoes and cook for another 5 minutes until they break down and combine with the other ingredients.

  6. 7

    Add Cream and Finish

Pour in the heavy cream and sprinkle the garam masala. Stir well and cook for another 3 minutes. Adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper as needed.

  7. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat, garnish with chopped cilantro, and serve hot with rice or naan.
