Dough Balls
Sugar Syrup
Method
Preparing Dough Balls
- 1
Mix Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine khoya, all-purpose flour, and baking powder. Mix well until fully combined.
- 2
Add Milk
Gradually add milk to the mixture and knead until a soft dough forms. The dough should be pliable but not sticky.
- 3
Shape Balls
Divide the dough into small portions and roll each portion into a smooth ball. Ensure that there are no cracks on the surface.
Making Sugar Syrup
- 4
Cook Sugar and Water
In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.
- 5
Add Flavorings
Once the sugar has dissolved, add crushed cardamom pods and rose water. Allow the syrup to simmer for about 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.
- 6
Cool Syrup
Remove the syrup from heat and let it cool slightly. The syrup should be warm when the dough balls are added.
Frying and Soaking
- 7
Heat Ghee
In a large frying pan or deep skillet, heat ghee over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 8
Fry Dough Balls
Carefully drop the dough balls into the hot ghee. Fry in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until they turn golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- 9
Soak in Syrup
Remove the fried dough balls using a slotted spoon and immediately transfer them to the warm sugar syrup. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes.
