Dough Ingredients
Garlic Butter
Method
Preparing the Dough
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of whole wheat flour and 1 tsp of salt. Mix well.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Gradually add 3 ml of water and 1 tbs of oil to the flour mixture. Knead until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
- 3
Rest the Dough
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
Making Garlic Butter
- 4
Prepare Garlic Butter
In a small saucepan, melt 2 tbs of butter over low heat. Add 4 minced garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in 2 tbs of chopped cilantro.
Cooking the Roti
- 5
Divide the Dough
Once the dough has rested, divide it into equal-sized balls (about the size of a golf ball).
- 6
Roll Out the Roti
On a floured surface, take one dough ball and roll it out into a circle about 6-7 inches in diameter.
- 7
Cook the Roti
Heat a tandoor or a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Place the rolled-out roti onto the hot surface and cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 1-2 minutes. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.
- 8
- 9
Repeat
Repeat the rolling and cooking process with the remaining dough balls.
