Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Rinse the Rice

Place the basmati rice in a fine-mesh sieve or bowl and rinse under cold running water. Swirl the rice gently with your hand to remove excess starch. Rinse until the water runs clear.

  2. 2

    Soak the Rice

Transfer the rinsed rice into a bowl and cover it with water. Let it soak for about 30 minutes. This step helps to achieve a fluffier texture.

  3. 3

    Boil Water

In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the salt and stir to dissolve.

  4. 4

    Add Rice to Boiling Water

Once the water is boiling, drain the soaked rice and add it to the saucepan. Stir gently to spread the rice evenly.

  5. 5

    Simmer the Rice

Reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a lid. Allow the rice to simmer for about 15-20 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.

  6. 6

    Fluff the Rice

Once the rice is cooked, remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes. Then, use a fork to fluff the rice gently.

  7. 7

    Add Butter or Olive Oil

Stir in the butter or olive oil to the fluffy rice for added flavor. Mix well and serve warm.
