Mix the Base
In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until thoroughly chilled.
Churn the Soft Serve
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
