Preparation of Dressing

Make the Thousand Island Dressing
In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated. Set aside.
Assembling the Sandwich

Layer the Ingredients
On one slice of rye bread, spread a generous amount of the thousand island dressing. Layer with 2 oz of corned beef, 1/4 cup of sauerkraut, and 1 slice of Swiss cheese. Top with another slice of rye bread.

Repeat for Second Sandwich
Repeat the layering process for the second sandwich using the remaining ingredients.
Toasting the Sandwiches

Butter the Bread
Spread butter on the outer sides of each sandwich.

Toast the Sandwiches
In a skillet over medium heat, place the sandwiches buttered side down. Toast for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown, then flip and toast the other side for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy.
Serving

Slice and Serve
Remove the sandwiches from the skillet, slice them in half, and serve immediately with extra thousand island dressing on the side if desired.
