Preparation of Brown Sugar Syrup

Make the Brown Sugar Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine 1 tablespoon of brown sugar with 1 tablespoon of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool. This can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
Mixing the Cocktail

Combine Ingredients
In a mixing glass, add 2 oz of Korbel brandy, 2 dashes of aromatic bitters, 2 dashes of orange bitters, and 0.5 oz of cherry juice.

Add Brown Sugar Syrup
Add 1 tablespoon of the prepared brown sugar syrup to the mixing glass.

Stir the Mixture
Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir the mixture for about 30 seconds to chill and dilute it slightly.

Strain into Glass
Strain the mixture into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice.
Garnishing

Add Garnish
Garnish the drink with a twist of orange peel and a maraschino cherry on top.
