Prepare the Pork
Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and cut it into four large pieces.

Make the Dry Rub
In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.

Apply the Dry Rub
Rub the dry mixture all over the pork pieces, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight in the refrigerator.

Preheat the Slow Cooker
Set your slow cooker to low heat.

Add the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder pieces into the slow cooker.

Pour in the apple cider vinegar, chicken broth, and barbecue sauce over the pork.

Cover the slow cooker and let the pork cook for 8 to 10 hours on low, until it's tender and shreds easily with a fork.
