Cooking Instructions

1. Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the trofie pasta and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta.

2. Prepare the Pesto

In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, pine nuts, minced garlic, and Parmesan cheese. Pulse until coarsely chopped. With the motor running, gradually add the olive oil until the mixture is smooth. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

3. Combine Pasta and Pesto

In a large bowl, combine the drained pasta with the pesto sauce. If the mixture is too thick, add a little of the reserved pasta cooking water to loosen it up. Toss until the pasta is well coated with the pesto.

4. Serve

Serve immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and a few pine nuts, if desired.
