Ingredients for Open Faced Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich

Method

Directions for Open Faced Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken thighs, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading

In another bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and cayenne pepper. Take the marinated chicken out of the fridge and let excess buttermilk drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture until well coated.

  3. 3

    Fry the Chicken

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated chicken thighs. Fry for about 6-8 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and let drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Bread

In another pan, lightly griddle the milk bread slices until golden brown on both sides.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Sandwich

Place a piece of fried chicken on each slice of griddled milk bread. Drizzle with Nashville hot sauce and top with dill pickle slices.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot and enjoy your open faced Nashville hot chicken sandwich!
