Method

Preparing the Fish

  1. 1

    Make the Batter

In a bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until smooth.

  2. 2

    Batter the Fish

Dip the cod fillets into the batter, coating them evenly.

  3. 3

    Fry the Fish

Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the battered fish fillets for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

    Cut and Soak Potatoes

Cut potatoes into thin strips and soak them in cold water for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 5

    Fry the Fries

Remove potatoes from water and pat dry. Fry in hot oil (350°F or 175°C) for about 5-7 minutes until crispy. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with salt.

Preparing the Coleslaw

  1. 6

    Mix the Coleslaw

In a large bowl, mix together the shredded cabbage and grated carrots. In a separate bowl, combine mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Pour over the cabbage mixture and toss to combine.
