Biscuit and Sausage Gravy

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Biscuits

Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk until just combined. Turn dough onto a floured surface, knead gently, and roll out to 1-inch thickness. Cut into rounds and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Sausage Gravy

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned. Sprinkle in the flour and stir to coat the sausage. Gradually add milk, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens. Season with black pepper and adjust salt if needed.

  3. 3

    Cook the Eggs

In a separate pan, cook the eggs to your preference (fried or scrambled).

  4. 4

    Prepare the Mashed Potatoes

If using pre-made mashed potatoes, heat them according to package instructions. Otherwise, boil potatoes, mash them with butter, milk, salt, and pepper to taste.

  5. 5

    Plate the Dish

Serve the biscuits topped with sausage gravy, alongside the griddled eggs and a helping of mashed potatoes.
