Method
Dumpling Dough Preparation
- 1
Make the Dough
In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water while stirring until a dough begins to form.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Filling Preparation
- 3
Prepare the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
Dumpling Assembly
- 4
Roll Out the Dough
After the dough has rested, divide it into small pieces (about 1 inch each). Roll each piece into a circle about 3 inches in diameter.
- 5
Fill the Dumplings
Place a teaspoon of the filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
Cooking
- 6
Prepare the Steamer
Bring water to a boil in a steamer pot. Line the steamer basket with parchment paper or cabbage leaves to prevent sticking.
- 7
Steam the Dumplings
Arrange the dumplings in the steamer basket, making sure they don’t touch each other. Cover and steam for about 15-20 minutes until fully cooked.
