Mushroom Preparation

Batter Ingredients

Method

Mushroom Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mushrooms

Clean the fresh mushrooms by wiping them with a damp cloth to remove any dirt. Trim the ends of the stems if necessary.

  2. 2

    Season the Mushrooms

In a mixing bowl, toss the cleaned mushrooms with olive oil, salt, and black pepper to season them evenly.

Batter Preparation

  1. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, garlic powder, paprika, and salt.

  2. 4

    Make the Batter

Gradually add the cold water to the dry mixture, whisking until you achieve a smooth batter consistency.

Frying

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot (around 180°C or 350°F).

  2. 6

    Coat the Mushrooms

Dip each seasoned mushroom into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.

  3. 7

    Fry the Mushrooms

Carefully place the batter-coated mushrooms into the hot oil. Fry in batches, not overcrowding the pan, for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.

  4. 8

    Drain the Mushrooms

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried mushrooms from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

  5. 9

    Serve

Serve the homemade fried mushrooms hot as an appetizer or snack.
