Method
Preparation of Chips

- 2
Fry the Chips
In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Drain the soaked potatoes and dry them thoroughly with a kitchen towel. Fry the potatoes in batches for about 6-8 minutes until they are golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, seasoning with salt while still hot.
Preparation of Fish
- 3
Season the Haddock
Pat the haddock fillets dry with a paper towel and season both sides with salt and pepper. Set aside.
- 4
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually whisk in cold water and beer (if using) until the batter is smooth and thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
- 5
Fry the Haddock
Heat a separate pan with oil (or use the same oil used for chips if needed). Dip each haddock fillet into the batter, allowing excess batter to drip off, then carefully place into the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Preparation of Salad (Optional)
- 6
Prepare the Garden Salad
In a bowl, combine mixed greens, halved cherry tomatoes, and sliced cucumber. Toss with your favorite dressing.
- 7
Prepare the Greek Salad
In a bowl, toss together mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, feta cheese, and olives. Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice.
- 8
Prepare the Caesar Salad
In a bowl, combine romaine lettuce with Caesar dressing and toss well. Add croutons on top before serving.
