Method
Preparation
- 1
Wash and Cut Potatoes
Wash the Russet potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. Cut each potato into long strips, about 1/4 inch thick, to make fries.
- 2
Soak Potatoes
Place the cut potato strips in a bowl of cold water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.
Cooking
- 3
Heat Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of potato in; if it sizzles, it's ready.
- 4
Dry Potatoes
After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 5
Fry Potatoes
Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Remove and Drain
Once cooked, use a slotted spoon to remove the fries from the pot and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 7
Season Fries
While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss to ensure even coating.
