Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

In a large pot, add the pork shoulder, chopped onion, minced garlic, and chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 1.5 hours, or until the pork is tender.

  2. 2

    Shred the Pork

Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the pot, let it cool slightly, and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the pot.

  3. 3

    Add Hominy and Seasonings

Add the hominy, oregano, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Stir well and let it simmer for an additional 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  4. 4

    Serve

Ladle the pozole into bowls and serve hot, garnished with your choice of toppings such as diced radishes, shredded cabbage, sliced avocado, lime wedges, and cilantro.
