Kibbeh Shell

Method

Preparing the Kibbeh Shell

  1. 1

    Soak Bulgur

In a bowl, soak the bulgur wheat in water for about 30 minutes until softened. Drain any excess water.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the soaked bulgur, ground beef, chopped onion, cinnamon, allspice, salt, pepper, parsley, and olive oil. Mix well until a dough-like consistency forms.

  3. 3

    Shape Kibbeh

Wet your hands and take a small amount of the mixture to form an oval or football shape. Make a hole in the center for the filling.

Preparing the Filling

  1. 4

    Cook Filling

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Then add the ground beef, cooking until browned. Stir in the pine nuts, cinnamon, salt, pepper, and mint. Cook for another 2-3 minutes. Let it cool.

Assembling and Cooking

  1. 5

    Fill and Seal

Take the shaped kibbeh shell and fill it with the beef filling. Pinch the edges to seal completely.

  2. 6

    Fry or Bake

You can either deep-fry the kibbeh in hot oil until golden brown or bake them at 375°F (190°C) for about 25 minutes until cooked through.
