Ingredients for Modelo Beer
Method
Brewing Directions
- 1
Prepare the Water
Start by measuring 100 liters of clean water. This will be the base for your beer.
- 2
Malt Preparation
Crush the barley malt to expose the starches. Measure out 12 kg for the brewing process.
- 3
Mashing
In a large brew kettle, heat the water to approximately 65°C (149°F) and add the crushed barley malt. Stir well and maintain the temperature for about 60 minutes.
- 4
Sparging
After mashing, sparge the grain by rinsing it with an additional 20 liters of hot water to extract remaining sugars.
- 5
Boiling
Bring the wort to a boil and add 250 grams of hops. Boil for 60 minutes, adding more hops at the last 15 minutes for aroma.
- 6
Cooling the Wort
After boiling, cool the wort quickly to below 25°C (77°F) using a wort chiller or an ice bath.
- 7
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel and pitch 0.5 kg of yeast. Seal the vessel and store it in a cool, dark place for 1-2 weeks.
- 8
Bottling
Once fermentation is complete, mix in 0.1 kg of priming sugar to carbonate the beer. Bottle the beer and cap the bottles.
- 9
Conditioning
Allow the bottled beer to condition for an additional 2 weeks at room temperature to develop flavor and carbonation.
- 10
Enjoy
Chill the bottles in the refrigerator and enjoy your homemade Modelo beer!
