Brewing Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Equipment

Before starting the brewing process, sanitize all equipment including the fermenter, brewing pot, and any utensils that will come in contact with the wort.

  2. 2

    Mash the Grains

In a large brewing pot, combine 2 cups of Amber malt, 4 cups of Pale malt, and 1 cup of Crystal malt with 5 gallons of water. Heat the mixture to 150°F (65°C) and maintain this temperature for 60 minutes to allow the grains to release their sugars.

  3. 3

    Sparge the Grains

After mashing, remove the grains from the pot and rinse them with hot water (around 170°F or 77°C) to extract additional sugars, ensuring you collect at least 5 gallons of sugary liquid (wort).

  4. 4

    Boil the Wort

Bring the wort to a boil and add 1 oz of Cascade hops. Boil for 60 minutes, adding the 0.5 oz of Willamette hops during the last 15 minutes of the boil for additional aroma.

  5. 5

    Cool the Wort

After the boiling process, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches around 70°F (21°C).

  6. 6

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort into a sanitized fermenter and pitch the yeast. Seal the fermenter with an airlock and store it in a dark, cool place for about 1-2 weeks, or until fermentation is complete.

  7. 7

    Bottling

Once fermentation is complete, siphon the beer into sanitized bottles, leaving some space at the top. Seal the bottles with caps and store them in a dark place for carbonation for another 1-2 weeks.

  8. 8

    Enjoy

Chill your bottles of Alaskan Amber and enjoy your homemade craft beer responsibly!
