Method

Preparation of Broth

1

Sauté Vegetables

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Then add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

2

Add Tomatoes

Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften, about 3-4 minutes.

3

Prepare Broth

Pour in the fish stock (or water) and add the bay leaves, cumin, salt, black pepper, and chili powder. Bring the mixture to a boil.

Cooking Seafood

4

Add Seafood

Once the broth is boiling, reduce to a simmer and add the fish fillets, shrimp, crab legs, scallops, clams, mussels, and calamari. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the seafood is cooked through and clams and mussels have opened.

Serving

5

Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat and discard bay leaves. Ladle the soup into bowls and top with chopped cilantro, diced avocado, and lime wedges on the side for garnishing. Serve hot.
