Preparing the Burger Patty

Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until combined, but do not overwork the meat.

Form the Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Add Cheese
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt.
Assembling the Burger

Toast the Buns
While the patties are cooking, you can toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Finish the Burger
Place the top half of the bun on the assembled burger and press gently. Your classic cheeseburger is ready to serve!
