For the Crispy Chicken Sandwich
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a separate bowl, mix together flour and cornstarch. This will be used to coat the chicken.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Bread the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour and cornstarch mixture, ensuring an even coating.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the breaded chicken in the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- 6
Assemble the Sandwich
On the bottom half of each burger bun, spread mayonnaise. Add lettuce, a fried chicken breast, tomato slices, and top with bread and butter pickles. Place the other half of the bun on top.
- 7
Serve
Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
