Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter until warm, but not boiling. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk mixture and let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add the yeast mixture and eggs to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead and Rise

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Cinnamon Filling

In a medium bowl, combine 1/2 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon, and 1/4 cup of softened butter. Mix until well combined.

  4. 4

    Shape the Rolls

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough. Starting from one edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.

  5. 5

    Second Rise

Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.

  6. 6

    Bake the Rolls

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Prepare the Glaze

In a small bowl, mix together 1 cup of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
