Method

Baking the Cupcakes

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the sugar and beat until fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry

Add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.

  6. 6

    Add Optional Flavorings

If desired, fold in cocoa powder, fruit puree, or chocolate chips into the batter.

  7. 7

    Fill the Cupcake Liners

Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.

  8. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  9. 9

    Cool and Serve

Allow the cupcakes to cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.
