Cooking the Meat Sauce

Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Brown the Meat
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.

Add the Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, oregano, salt, black pepper, and bay leaf. Bring to a simmer.

Simmer the Sauce
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cooking the Spaghetti

Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring 4 liters of water to a boil. Add salt to the water.

Cook the Spaghetti
Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain the Spaghetti
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti and set aside.
Serving

Combine and Serve
Serve the spaghetti topped with the Bolognese sauce. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh basil or parsley.
