Cook the Sausage
In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the crumbled Italian sausage and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
- 3
Sauté the Vegetables
In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften. Add the heirloom tomatoes, salt, and pepper, and cook until the tomatoes blister, about 5 minutes.
- 4
Add the Cream and Wine
Pour in the Marsala wine and let it cook for 2 minutes to reduce slightly. Then, add the heavy cream and stir to combine. Allow the sauce to simmer for another 3-5 minutes.
- 5
Combine Gnocchi and Sausage
While the sauce is simmering, cook the gnocchi according to package instructions. Drain and add the cooked gnocchi and sausage to the skillet. Toss everything together until well combined and heated through.

Serve
Remove from heat and stir in the fresh basil leaves. Serve hot, topped with shaved Parmesan cheese.
