Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and semisweet chocolate. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.
- 4
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Add the melted chocolate mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.

Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the large eggs and vanilla extract to the batter. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.
Baking the Cakes

Fill Ramekins
Evenly distribute the cake batter into the prepared ramekins, filling each about 2/3 full.
- 8
Bake
Bake the cakes in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
- 9
Cool Slightly
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the ramekins for 1-2 minutes.

Invert and Serve
Carefully run a knife around the edges of each ramekin and invert onto individual serving plates. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
