Method

Prepare Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined without overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form each portion into a patty that is about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you can add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Prepare Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice the Tomato

While the patties are cooking, wash and slice the tomato into thin rounds.

  2. 6

    Prepare Lettuce and Pickles

Wash the lettuce leaves and pat dry. Gather the pickles for assembly.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns

Optional: Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

  2. 8

    Build Your Cheeseburger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a cooked patty with melted cheese. Top with lettuce, a slice of tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Cover with the top half of the bun.
