Homemade Marinara
Method
Calamari Preparation
Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Dredge each calamari ring in the flour mixture until well-coated.
Fry the Calamari
In a large pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the calamari in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Spicy Aioli Preparation
Mix the Aioli
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, Sriracha sauce, and salt. Mix until smooth and well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.
Homemade Marinara Preparation
Cook the Marinara
In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
