Tempura Green Beans
Method
Preparation for Tempura Green Beans
Prepare the Green Beans
Wash and trim the ends of the green beans. Set aside.
Make the Tempura Batter
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add cold water while mixing until the batter is smooth and slightly lumpy.
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 180°C (350°F).
Fry the Green Beans
Dip the green beans into the tempura batter, allowing excess batter to drip off. Carefully place the battered green beans into the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
